Certificate in Drugs Awareness, Level 2 |
The Certificate in Drugs Awareness training course by People in Vision is nationally accredited at Level 2 by Ascentis (formerly OCNW). This course is designed to give the student a good grounding in the area of drug use and misuse.
It will provide the student with a working knowledge of the various substances (including effects, consequences and current legislation) and related issues, such as social effects, health issues and interventions. Both legal and illegal substances are included.

28 August 2009 | Drugs Awareness Training: | The Certificate in Drugs Awareness is designed to suit people who aim to have a general awareness of the various drugs issues, enabling them to recognise signs and symptoms of drug use and to know about agencies, issues in society and how to provide initial support.

| | Who Benefits: | The Certificate in Drugs Awareness is largely aimed at those who may not have a specific substance misuse function but who still need to achieve a good grounding in general drugs awareness because of possible contacts with users, enabling them to provide an initial response.
This may benefit a range of people, such as generic social and health professionals, youth workers, community groups, parents, carers and volunteers. This course may also aid teachers, police officers, prison officers, support staff within drugs agencies and all those seeking to understand and apply the principles of drug awareness training. However, for those with a specific substance misuse function our Level 3 programme may be more appropriate.

| | DANOS Standards: | The Certificate in Drugs Awareness has been mapped to the DANOS standards. It helps people to develop their knowledge, skills and competence in the following DANOS units: AA1, AA3, AA4, AB2, AB5, AC1, AD1, BD3, also including HSC330, HSC3111, HSC33, HSC22, as well as elements of various other units.
| | Further Development: | The Certificate in Responding to Substance Misuse (Level 3) is an invaluable learning programme for people who specialise professionally or have a particular interest in the drugs field. People in Vision also offer some Drugs Seminars and Workshops.
